Barely a day after the best New Year’s Eve EVER, Stephanie and Maurizio Bertossi and their staff from Bish arrived to empty the restaurant of anything that wasn’t nailed down. Shelves were ransacked, artwork taken down, furniture moved out and everything else packed up for storage to prep the space for tomorrow’s demolition. Afterwards, the staff drank the leftover wine and toasted their last day of work at Bish. Salute!

The day is finally here! Contractors arrived bright and early this morning to deconstruct Bish and make way for The Bicycle Thief. In a surprisingly short amount of time the formerly elegant space was completely unrecognizable once the dust settled. Meanwhile, Maurizio rushed to make enough gelato for the other restaurants before his kitchen got destroyed. (Don’t worry - he got it done)

The view from the front door of what will be The Bicycle Thief in just 6 weeks!
DAY 4: AND WE’RE STILL EXCITED
Not sure what Day 5 will bring….only 25 more days of construction left!
Still tearing out the old….not finding too many skeletons!

The picture says it all…

Lunch special at The Bicycle Thief

Hangin’ by a thread

Private dining room….not so private now!

Mr. Fix It strikes again
Despite the snow, we’re well underway! Lots going on - kitchen’s being tiled, new drywall is being installed, electrical is being run…there’s gotta be at least 20 tradesmen (plus Maurizio) working together. Next up…world peace.

Keepin’ the gas fires burning for our new torches

Come on baby, light my fire

Drywall Walking…

Oops, I did it again….wasn’t that ceiling supposed to stay??

A very happy Maurizio - he’s fixing stuff.
DAY 7: (if you don’t count the weekend) AND STILL GOING STRONG
Things are progressing…sort of to schedule. Every day is a new day! Hopefully the courier can find us in Bishop’s Landing to deliver the lights. LET THERE BE LIGHT.

Site Super Roger and the power-tool-wielding Doug Doucet, owner of RCS

Hard to believe it right now but it’s going to be beautiful!

It’s pretty bad when Maurizio needs directions in his own restaurant.

The new ceiling is well underway…hopefully those lights will come soon!

Maurizio on the level.
Construction continued yesterday despite the Nor’easter that hit the city. Now that’s dedication!!

Where do you get a full body harness, anyway??

Table saw with a view.

The best laid plans…..

…doesn’t mean you have to use them!

Is it ever going to look like a restaurant again??

These are NOT the new paint colours!

Fuhgeddaboudit!
